## Printing and determining output accuracy (verbosity)

**-v** Increase the verbosity level, which causes Nmap to output more information about the ongoing scan. Open ports are shown as they are found, and time estimates are given when Nmap estimates that the scan will take longer than a few minutes. Use it twice or more for even more detailed output.

**-oN <filename>** Writes the output in Nmap's normal format to the specified file. This format roughly corresponds to the interactive output displayed during an Nmap scan.

**-oX** Writes the output in Nmap's XML format to the specified file. Normal (human-readable) output is still displayed to standard output (stdout). This is the recommended format for scripts and programs that process Nmap's results.

**-oG <filename>** Writes the output of Nmap in the so-called grepable format to the desired file. This tabular format puts each host's output on a single line, making it easier to search for open ports, specific types of operating systems, application names, or other information using the grep command.

**-oA** For convenience, you can use this to save scan results simultaneously in a normal, XML, and grepable format.
